The customer had an existing SSO solution for browser-based user access to the Force.com platform.
The solution did not cater for applications that required the use of other methods of connection to
the Force.com platform, such as the Salesforce for Outlook plug-in, Salesforce mobile app and other
custom applications that use the Force.com APIs.
